We strive to enhance the quality of life for individuals and their horses, by providing year-round recreational and enrichment opportunities to all.
Each year, MODA dedicates $1,000.00 toward its Educational Grant Fund, providing financial support to members wishing to further their equine education. Read on for details, and then take a moment to send in your “Declaration of Candidacy,” which can be found on the MODA webpage.
Grant recipients will be selected by drawing from all eligible candidates.
The Grants are awarded at the Year End Celebration. A maximum of four (4) grants will be awarded per year. The educational grant fund will be divided equally among the recipients.
No activity will count toward qualifying for the grant unless the member has declared her/him self a candidate prior to that activity.
A candidate is any MODA member in good standing (dues timely paid), who is aged 21 years as of December 1 of the current competition year.
The criteria for qualify for the grant is as follows:
1. DECLARE THAT YOU ARE A CANDIDATE.
Declare that you are a candidate by completion of the MODA Candidate Form and deliver the form to the Educational Grant Program Chairperson. No activity will count toward qualifying for the scholarship unless you have declared yourself a candidate prior to that activity.
2. CANDIDATE MUST VOLUNTEER A TOTAL OF (22) HOURS
a. Six (6) hours must be on the show grounds at any MODA sponsored USEF/USDF competition. (volunteer hours for these competitions are doubled) Transporting judges or equipment and other jobs (by decision of the Board) will qualify as show grounds time.
b. The other sixteen (16) hours may include other MODA activities, i.e. schooling shows, clinics, etc.
3. CANDIDATE MUST ATTEND two (2) General MODA MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS AND/OR OPEN BOARD MEETINGS.
Membership meetings must be during the grant year in which the grant is awarded.
The MODA Executive Board shall resolve Grant qualification disputes. The decision of the Executive Board is final.
